Dr. Johanna Hartelius (PhD, 2008) is Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of The Rhetoric of Expertise (Lexington, 2011) and The Gifting Logos: Expertise in the Digital Commons (University of California, 2020), which provides an extensive analysis of expert and public knowledge in digital culture, including the Wayback Machine, the Internet Archive, the Creative Commons Licenses, and others. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in communication and rhetoric. She is a member of the International Network for the Study of Credibility, Ethos and Trust (University of Bergen, Norway), and a strategic communication consultant for VDF Consulting.
